At James Fisher Nuclear (JFN) we recognise how tough it can be in the current climate when leaving university, and that’s why we want to offer you the opportunity to get a step on the ladder as early as possible.
Now is the most exciting time to be a part of JFN, as we continue to take on some of the most complex engineering challenges and strive to grow and grow as a force in the world’s nuclear and other high assurance industries.
Who we're looking for
JFN’s placement and graduate schemes are aimed at individuals who are willing to push themselves further and offer fresh, creative thinking within a challenging, diverse and rewarding environment. As an undergraduate or graduate, we want your ambition and passion, and in return can offer you opportunities that will allow you to put your skills to use, and thrive in an organisation on the up.
There is the opportunity, via the Sir John Fisher Foundation, for eligible candidates to be awarded a bursary of up to £2,000 per annum. To be eligible, candidates must be engineering students studying at British universities. Candidates should also be of limited means and must be recommended to the Foundation. Students from the Barrow area will get particular consideration, but others may also be recommended and each will be considered on his or her own merits.
What we're looking for
Attitude, ideas and the willingness to do the extra bit are as important as experience, and this is something that is not recognised as readily as it should be – but experience is nonetheless a defining factor, and that’s where we come in.
Whether you are an undergraduate looking to gain the ever more crucial experience needed in the working world of today, or a graduate now looking to advance your career, we would welcome the opportunity to hear from you and discuss where your aspirations can fit with ours.
We offer summer placements, as well as opportunities for those on gap/placement years and graduate schemes too – all of which are potential gateways to a future with JFN. We are particularly keen on those involved in mechanical engineering, but will also consider those from other relevant backgrounds.
