What we do

High-integrity control systems

James Fisher Nuclear (JFN) designs and supplies control systems for applications demanding high integrity safety, security and reliability. The company can offer suitable qualified and experienced (SQEP) resource in designing programmable electrical systems (PES) and software to IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and BNF.EG00090_1 and delivering these systems under Validation and Verification (V&V) control with a complete package of full lifecycle safety documentation.

The system design process starts with a thorough and comprehensive capture and analysis of customer and technical requirements (user requirements specification, SRS) and the development of a detailed specifications and design (including a system definition document (SDD), functional design specification (FDS), software design specification (SDS) and system software specification (SSS)). This approach clarifies, documents and delivers the requirements in a systematic fashion and reduces the project risks.

Implementing these processes into our time, quality, and management systems allows a smooth and risk mitigated approach to integrated full turn-key solutions.

In association with our structured systems design we have a robust strategy of systems qualification and testing to verify and validate at all stages of the software lifecycle. We facilitate full in-house CAT and FAT testing, integration testing block testing and module testing. In accordance with the project test plans this testing can take the form of "black box testing", code and gate reviews and logic and truth table assessments. Requirements traceability is maintained throughout.
