Optical and Radiation Surveys

Accurate information is essential to the beginning of any project.
Highly competent with the operation of robotic manipulators and remotely operated vehicles, JFN is able to provide visual inspection solutions for areas for that are hard to access for human surveyors.

Camera systems can be remotely deployed in hazardous environments, including:

  • Irradiated cells
  • Enclosed plant cells and vessels
  • Underwater
    • Pipe surveys
    • Interior of filled vessels

During camera surveys where conditions are not ideal for visual imaging, JFN apply real-time image enhancement techniques to improve image quality revealing details otherwise hidden. This enables the survey operator to prioritise objects and features to further focus on.

In the following video clip of an underwater inspection, the left hand side of the image is unprocessed, the right hand side is processed with an image enhancement algorithm.

A wide variety of radiation detectors have been deployed for the characterisation of plants and facilities.  Data can be collected and integrated into a model of the plant or process vessel for visualisation purposes.
