Design Services

JFN provides industry with a diverse range of both "standard" and bespoke designs and equipment, which are robust, reliable, maintainable and cost effective. Products supplied range from components and sub assemblies through to rigs, instruments, systems and skid-mounted turn-key plants for processing hazardous materials. JFN has experience throughout the design process and is able to support a project from the concept phase, through the development and design delivery and has a substantial design capacity with more than 75 3D and 175 2D CAD licences. It is additionally able to support the full project lifecycle including training, operations, maintenance and decommissioning through the provision of structured support documentation. Experience includes:

  • Research and Development
  • Option and Feasibility Studies
  • Concept and Scheme Design
  • Risk Assessment and Management
  • Safety Case Documents
  • HAZOP/HAZAN
  • Solid and Thermal Modelling
  • Finite Element Stress and Mechanism Analysis
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and Hydraulic Detail Design
  • Software Design and Testing
  • Compliance documents (ATEX; BS EN 61508; Harmonised Directives; UK Legislation)
  • Engineering Substantiation
  • Operator Training Packs
  • Site Implementation Documents
  • Site Installation and Commissioning Manuals
  • Site Operations and In Service Support Manuals and Schedules
  • Decommissioning Plans (including Cutting and Packing Sequences)
  • Design upgrades and refurbishments

All JFN design and manufacturing work is carried out to strict Environmental, Health and Safety and Quality standards.

Although 2D design services are maintained and often utilised on legacy mechanical designs, complex mechanical designs typically utilise JFN solid modelling capabilities.

Electrical design services utilise AutoCAD, Relux, Amtech, EPLAN and Wiseimage to support equipment design or as standalone packages in respect of building infrastructure.

Programmable Electronic Systems and control system design includes appropriate configuration management and software lifecycle processes, prior to program coding.

The designs produced are validated and verified by the in-house analysis division.
